Hi! My name is Volha

... and I originate from a small town in Belarus.

My love for art started as early as I can remember. As soon

as I could hold a pencil in my hand, I began to draw on paper everything I could imagine. It brought me joy, and I was making progress. I also attended a children's drawing school for a couple of years. But I didn't take drawing seriously back then and never thought of making it my profession until later in life.

When I left school, I also left my passion for art behind and entered

a pedagogical university to become a school teacher of English. I almost gave up hand drawing for years. But instead, my interest gradually gravitated towards graphic design and animation. I discovered Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and I even learned how to animate.

After graduating from the university, I realized that the profession I had chosen did not quite match my character, and I wanted to take a different path. I was lucky to find a corporate job as a graphic designer. But after about 7 years, I felt burnt out and left the company to heal and reconnect with my inner creative self.

And I decided to start learning to draw by hand again. It was a wonderful time full of discoveries! I have always been fascinated by watercolor paintings, botanical and fashion illustrations. Now I was learning to create my own.

Since then, I have become a freelance artist, graphic designer and illustrator. I have learned how to make my living by creating stock vector illustrations and I also enjoy being an art teacher in my online educational project, filming and editing step-by-step drawing tutorials for children and adults, publishing postcards and coloring books with my illustrations from time to time and doing some other creative stuff.

In 2019 I discovered Inktober, and it became a whole new stage in my artistic life

Participating in Inktober challenge gave me an opportunity to tell a bunch of stories, drawing one illustration every day. I grew up reading old children's books filled with magical pictures that excited my imagination. Now I was creating my own fantasy worlds!

I create my illustrations by hand in black ink, combining elements of engraving technique with watercolor effects, and then color them digitally. My artistic style leans towards realism with a touch of whimsy and humor and my work is inspired by nature and wildlife. I draw everything from insects and flowers to full dreamy scenes. I enjoy playing with light and shadow, and I love going into detail. In my illustrations I’m trying to convey positive emotions and a playful mood (but sometimes I feel like creating something a little creepy).

I hope that my art can spark joy and inspiration in all those who view it!
